Rachel Weisz's Holocaust Drama 'Denial' Debuts Film Poster

Timothy Spall will star as writer David Irving in the Mick Jackson-directed drama.

In Denial, Rachel Weisz stars as historian Deborah E. Lipstadt, who was accused of libel by writer David Irving when she called him a Holocaust denier.

Timothy Spall will star as Irving in the Mick Jackson-directed drama, which is based on the book History on Trial: My Day in Court With a Holocaust Denier, which was adapted by David Hare. Tom Wilkinson will also star as lawyer Richard Rampton.

Unlike in the U.S. where the accused is “innocent until proven guilty,” the English legal system pushes the burden of proof onto the accuser, a circumstance that necessitated Lipstadt and her counsel prove that the Holocaust actually happened.

Denial is set to be released Sept. 30.

See Weisz pictured with the real-life Lipstadt, below.
