Bergner’s biography of Ryan Speedo Green, out in September, traces his unique journey from a troubled childhood in Virginia to New York’s Metropolitan Opera, where at 24 he bested 1,200 singers in a competition hosted by the Met to emerge as one of opera’s biggest rising stars.
